Biocides — Oilfield Applications

// Product Overview

Sceptre's Oilfield Biocides control the microbial populations in produced water, injection water systems, pipelines, and surface handling facilities that cause microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC), hydrogen sulfide generation (souring), biofilm accumulation, and loss of injectivity in water injection systems.

Microbial activity in oilfield systems — particularly sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRBs), acid-producing bacteria (APBs), and general heterotrophic bacteria (GHBs) — is responsible for billions of dollars of annual infrastructure damage and production loss worldwide. Our oilfield biocide programs use proven active ingredients at optimized doses and treatment frequencies to maintain microbial populations at non-damaging levels.

Key Benefits & Features

✅

Reservoir Souring Prevention

Controlling SRBs in injection water and production systems prevents the in-reservoir microbial reduction of sulfate to H₂S — maintaining product quality and preventing corrosion.

🎯

MIC Control

Our biocide programs are proven in the field to reduce biofilm-associated corrosion rates in carbon steel pipelines and vessels — extending equipment operational life.

⚡

Water Injection Injectivity Preservation

Biocidal control of injection water prevents biofilm formation and plugging in injection well formations and completion equipment — maintaining waterflood efficiency.

🛡️

Rotating Biocide Programs

We supply paired biocide programs — typically an oxidizing biocide and a non-oxidizing biocide — for alternating treatment, preventing the resistance development seen with single-product programs.

💡

H₂S Scavenger Integration

Where souring is already established, our biocide programs can be integrated with H₂S scavenger products to simultaneously treat existing H₂S and prevent further microbial generation.

🔬

Oilfield Chemical Compatibility

Biocide actives are selected for compatibility with the specific production chemical suite in use at each facility — avoiding precipitation, emulsification, or performance interactions.
