Defoamer

// Product Overview

Sceptre's Defoamer and Antifoam range controls and eliminates unwanted foam in industrial processes, wastewater treatment, food processing, paper manufacturing, fermentation, and chemical production operations. Foam causes process inefficiencies, product loss, equipment overflow, and quality defects — our defoamers provide rapid, long-lasting foam control at low treat rates.

Foam forms when surface-active agents (surfactants, proteins, biological compounds) stabilize air bubbles trapped in a liquid phase, creating a persistent foam blanket that resists natural collapse. Our defoamers work by rapidly spreading across the foam bubble interface, displacing the foam-stabilizing surfactant and causing bubble wall rupture. Available in oil-based, silicone, water-based, and EO/PO polymer formulations for different application environments.

Key Benefits & Features

✅

Rapid Knockdown Action

Our silicone and EO/PO polymer defoamers provide within-seconds foam knockdown — critical in production processes where foam overflow causes product loss or safety hazards.

🎯

Persistent Antifoam Effect

Long-lasting antifoam effect that prevents re-foaming without requiring repeated chemical addition — reducing chemical consumption and operator intervention.

⚡

Food-Grade Options Available

Silicone and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) defoamers with food-grade certification are available for use in food processing, fermentation, and beverage production.

🛡️

Wastewater Treatment Compatibility

Our water-based defoamers for biological wastewater treatment plants are formulated not to inhibit microbial activity or carry-through to treated effluent.

💡

Paper Machine Compatibility

Low-dose silicone and EO/PO defoamers for wet-end paper machine applications — controlling foam without depositing or causing paper sheet defects.

🔬

Non-Silicone Options

Mineral oil and EO/PO-based defoamers available for applications where silicone carry-through would cause problems in downstream coating, painting, or printing operations.
